A ride through the clouds
Imagine gliding high above ancient pine trees and jagged granite peaks, the morning mist curling around you as the cable car sways gently in the breeze. This is Huangshan—China’s legendary Yellow Mountain—a UNESCO World Heritage site that welcomes millions of visitors each year. But behind this breathtaking journey is a complex engineering challenge: how do you keep a cable car stable, safe, and comfortable in such a rugged environment?
The challenge: Safety beyond GPS In the steep valleys of Huangshan, GPS signals are often blocked by mountainsides and dense forest. Even when available, GPS alone can’t measure the swing angle or amplitude of a cabin in motion—two factors critical for passenger comfort and operational safety. Without this data, operators can’t fully assess stability or predict when a cabin might need maintenance. That’s where we came in.

The LaneTo solution The Huangshan cable car system now uses our LaneTo IMU/GNSS hardware module paired with our attitude monitoring algorithm. Three-axis orientation tracking: Continuous roll, pitch, and yaw monitoring captures every subtle movement.
Two years of incident-free operation
With LaneTo, Huangshan’s cable car operators have enjoyed over two years of safe, stable, and uninterrupted service. Abnormal cabins are detected early, enabling preventive maintenance before passengers even notice a problem.
Visitors enjoy a smooth, secure ride—free to focus on the spectacular scenery—while operators gain peace of mind knowing the system is always watching over their fleet.
Engineering safety into every journey
From mountain cable cars to urban gondolas, the combination of high-precision IMU sensing, GNSS positioning, and intelligent cloud analytics is redefining passenger transport safety.
In Huangshan, that means fewer worries, fewer interruptions, and a better experience for everyone—proof that the right technology can turn a beautiful view into an unforgettable ride.
